[Infographic] History of supply chain management and Logistics
A few weeks ago I was conducting some research on e-commerce led businesses.
Though I have worked on various e-commerce business in my 13 year journey with the Digital media and marketing industry- and have been exposed to various kinds of businesses, at the time of my research- I was particularly interested in Payment gateways and logistics industries.
My presumption was that from an Asian context- both these businesses would have matured and now- would be offering many digital enabling offerings- ranging from complex to smaller services. All that had to be done would have been done.
How wrong I was. The state of logistics (and I am talking big companies) and even payment gateway companies is sad when it comes to the digital channels- to say the least.
But one good outcome of all this was being able to speak to some good folks. One of them is Ben Benjabutr. During my research- I wrote an email to Ben on his insights- and he reverted promptly with some good insights. Bens runs an interesting site called SCM-Operations and covers Supply Chain and logistics related insights.
Good stuff- if you are interested in SCM/Logistics- I suggest go to the site, register, contribute.
Ben recently shared this interesting and very insightful infographic developed by SCM-Operations on the History of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
I am sucker for good infographics- and if you are too, you will enjoy this one.
On this infographic- the site mentions: Understanding of our own roots helps create the appropriate mindset, ending the rhetoric and bringing supply chain integration to reality!
Now if someone could put this in the digital context- it would be so much more meaningful for me. Maybe that’s the next one for you Ben!
