Festival of media Asia 2014 (Singapore)
The Festival of media, in recent years, has been among my favorite media related conferences/gatherings.
It does help to understand what is currently happening in the media/advertising sector, but more importantly, where is it all heading. You get to meet people of course, and that is always exciting. I am not too much of an extrovert, but do like meeting people and sharing stuff.
So I have been visiting this festival since the past 2 years (and have been blogging about experiences)- and this year was no …

I haven’t attended many events lately.
But when friends @Rice Communications invited me to a community gathering around the launch of a book titled “Talented South East Asia”- on talent management in SEA, I had to give in. A little time spent in the company of industry achievers and think-tank never goes unrewarded.
While Asia as a whole is well celebrated in terms of high quality talent, specific pockets within Asia are quite happening, if you look with the right lens. This publication seems to provide that lens with a focus on an …

National University of Singapore (NUS) is running Innovfest- an event dedicated to promoting innovation related activities. 2014 events are scheduled in mid April. Details in the above digital brochure. Thought I should share. Enjoy, participate, share.
APAC is not only the most populous region in the world, it is also the region with dominant internet population and television penetration.
It might perhaps even be the most diverse region when it comes to advertising mediums. Right from camel backs to auto rickshaws to an increasingly sophisticated digital TV market, this region is an awesome playground for both media consumers and marketers alike.
Festival of Media Asia 2014, a solid event that brings together media stakeholders from all around the world, has recently tried to highlight a media trend using …
Festival of Media Asia Pacific 2014
How time flies. It’s back again.
It seems last year’s event only just happened.
And it’s already back- third year in a row. The Festival of Media Asia Pacific (FOMAP), the largest gathering of media leaders in Asia Pacific is back for its third year. This year, it takes place from 16-18 March 2014 at the Capella Singapore. So the usual suspects from the media fraternity- media owners, agencies and brands are all going to be there for three days of networking, celebration and inspiring speaker sessions.
Chasing The Storm have been associated with SES since 3 years now. This year too, Chasing The Storm are one of the media partners- so here are some details about SES Singapore 2013
SES Singapore 2013 3rd annual conference is being held in Singapore from 2-4 December 2013.
The SES Singapore conference is the annual conference that sees over 300 digital marketing and advertising professionals attending and mingling. Of course there is keeping up with the latest marketing trends, best practices, new technologies and, yes- quite importantly, hear practical tips on utilizing …

What awesome two days.
Happy (and thankful to Rice Communications and FOMA) to be a part of an event like Festival of Media, Asia. Stylish, full of great speaking sessions and good speakers- not just on the quality of speaking but the quality of content they had to talk about.
Apart from that, great questioning by presenters.
Two days- locked in the southern corner of Singapore- hijacking the W Sentosa hotels (they loved it, by the way- judging by their tweets in response to mine ) .
Full of action too: We made the …

Attending The Festival of Media Asia 2013 in Singapore.
The Festival of Media Asia 2013 takes place from 3-5 March 2013.
I personally am quite stoked about the two days: 4th and 5th March. There seems to be a solid line-up of speakers and sessions.
Check out the speaker line up for yourself.
And the Festival agenda here
Earlier, I usually attended these events from a Media Agency (when I used to work with Media agencies) or from a Brand perspective, later (When I was working with Nokia). And now I am attending this having …
Start-up incubators and accelerators are a growing trend all over the world.
The scene seems to be hotting up in India too.
Friends from ‘Price Check India‘ shared this wonderful infographic and a rich post highlighting the top incubators/business accelerators from various parts in India.
A note from them:
…there’s a great thrust to support first time entrepreneurs across India. There are all kinds of efforts in this direction – Govt supported Institute based technology incubators, Private business incubators started by industry veterans and startup accelerators supported by companies and VC funds. Individually there …

We recently engaged with the media (and blogging community) via an extremely innovative manner. We probably did pique the interest of some awesome media folks with that approach. More on the approach in another post- though just wanted to let everyone know that The Whiz Times has been covered on various digital media platforms:
Prominent Industry leading Digital media/marketing publications:
And on a few blogs:
These are a few that we monitored, and hopefully, there will be a few more this week.
Next thing we will focus on – is building applications (we are …

So Techventure 2012 started today.
I HAD to be there.
But I did not know anyone who could help me get in. Would have loved to buy tickets, but (A) those were too expensive for me at this stage of my start-up and (B) there was a better way.
Chasing The Storm.
Over the years, this canvas has taken the brunt of my opinions. Plus the influence built through years of publishing works out. Helps me meet super cool people. And get invites to fab events like these.
My key agenda for attending Tech …

V Ramani- the charismatic media personality from India is no more.
I found about this from Alok Kejriwal’s post on Facebook and his tribute- and then found out more through various news articles. Absolute shock. He was a little young to go.
Ramani was probably by far the most imposing personality I have met in my career. Tall, bald, with a deep voice and a completely no nonsense attitude.
He was an absolutely polarising personality – but the thing is- you could love him or hate him, but you could never ignore or …
